Single Olympic Village

Salt Lake City offers a Single Olympic Village where 4,000 athletes and officials will be accommodated on the University of Utah campus. Secluded from the city, Olympic Village will provide a home where athletes can train physically as well as mentally. The University has an enrollment of 25,000 and more than one million people attend campus events annually. Located at the base of the majestic Rocky Mountains, the Olympic Village is adjacent to the Olympic Stadium and staging stadium; 10 minutes from the center of the city; 10 to 55 minutes from all venues; and directly accessed from two major highways with 4 to 6 lanes. After the Olympic Winter Games, the Olympic apartments will be used for needed student housing.

Residential Zone

Living quarters in the Residential Zone will be in new apartment-style housing that will include equipment storage, computers in all rooms, fiber optic telecommunications, repair shops, and recreational areas. Within the Residential Zone there will be a 24-hour cafeteria that will assure a "no waiting policy". A flexible configuration of the living quarters will allow for various sized delegations to be fully accommodated. Salt Lake City is a leader in Sport Medicine and the Village will provide modern medical and physical therapy services. An Olympic Village Polyclinic will be fully staffed and equipped to provide services to all residents upon request. The Village will be constructed in accordance with the IOC Village guidelines and post-use of the Village will provide housing for students.

International Zone

The largest activities building on campus will be the gateway to the International Zone. As the central area for support services, it will offer: movie theatres, camera shop film services, bowling alleys, billard center, post offices, international and domestic newspaper shops, banking facilities, video arcades, library and music rooms, hair styling salons for men and women, copy and print shops, travel agencies, multi-lingual services, weather information and message service centers. Within the International Zone there will be snack areas and cafes for informal dining. The building has a full service restaurant with a panoramic view of Salt Lake City for large banquets. Several private dining rooms, banquet halls and full service catering will be available for private NOC social functions.

The Judges' and Referees' Village

The Judges' and Referees' Village will be in a hotel, located three kilometers from the Olympic Village. The full service hotel has 220 suites, as well as meeting rooms, restaurants, lounges and many other amenities found in a first class hotel.
