The enthusiasm of the men and women of Utah for the Olympic Winter Games is demonstrated by their authorization of the expenditure of state tax revenues for the construction of a Winter Sports Park, close to Salt Lake City, which is nearing completion and will serve to train athletes for the Olympic Games and beyond.
The activities of the Salt Lake Bid Committee are privately funded by local businesses and individuals. A broad base of support consists of large and small donors representing all segments of the population. Private funding of popular causes has been a tradition throughout the pioneering history of the community.
